FairStars CD Ripper is a free program developed to help you rip audio CDs and extract their tracks to common audio file formats such as MP3, WAV or WMA.
It’s a simple tool with a neat and intuitive interface. I like the fact that it can save the ripped CD tracks not only to the ubiquitous MP3 format, but also to WMA, WAV, OGG, FLAC, APE and even the lesser known VQF file format. Furthermore, FairStars CD Ripper lets the users control a lot of things. For example, a lot of encoding options and parameters can be configured for each of the supported output file formats, so you won’t have to be stuck with predefined sound profiles for the extracted files. Another example is the fact that it lets you change the skin of the interface. I personally like tools like this one, which allow the users to tweak as many settings as possible and have a lot of control.
FairStars CD Ripper comes with a lot more: it can play the CD tracks, it allows editing the tags for the ripped files, and it provides automatic volume adjustment (sound normalization). The high track extracting speed is another thing that I add without hesitation to the long list of advantages provided by this application.
To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from this program when I started testing it. I’m pleased to find out that I was wrong. This tool functions flawlessly, looks great and offers a lot. It leaves no room for complaint and it comes to prove the saying that “best things in life are free”. I recommend it with all my heart.
